With the UK economy only slowing improving its fortunes the influence Britain once had in the African continent continue to wane, especially with the Chinese now massively investing in many of the continents countries to improve infrastructure in return for deals on raw materials and access to to markets.

The strengthen economies see no reason to be beholden to their former colonial governors as their founding of independence is now a distant memory and all historical allegiances now counting for very little, if anything at all. The continent has always been resource rich but interference from external governments have deliberately fostered instability, making their natural resources much easier and cheaper to exploit.
