The UK balance of payments has been a serious concern for a number of decades with much of the traditional base lost. But at the time of creation this image illustrates a resurgent base coming a few short years after the financial and tertiraty service sector crash of 2008. Much of this is down to small to medium sized commercial concerns creating bespoke products for specialised export markets rather than the large scale concerns that still exited in the UK until the mid 1980s.
