The former journalist on the Financial Times, Sunday Telegraph, Spectator and Chancellor of the Exchequer under Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s.

He was a great advocate of the privatisation of public services during this time and oversaw the de-regulation of the UK financial markets in 1986 known as Big Bang, which many now trace the origins of the 2008 crash back to. He first entered parliament in 1974 and retired in 1992. He now sits in the House of Lords and  now gives over much of his time to chairing his climate change denial orgainsation.
